stop with the bear madness imo.

get over it already, and be excited for next year. or gogo save up and buy them. :>

besides, i honestly don't think Gaile could know such a thing, and tbh, i don't think anyone that can tell you cares enough to look it up and share.

Okay lets think about the length of Wintersday here. GW is not even 3 years old yet.

I was here for the first Wintersday... I recall it ending right after the finale festival. (supposedly Dwayna had won)

Then there was last year. It extended for like 2 weeks. This is said to be due to an earth quake to allow those folks a chance to participate. (supposedly Grenth had won)

This year... no natural disasters. Ended abruptly with out warning (Dwayna wins?).

Do you see a pattern here? Next year Grenth will probably win.... maybe... and it will be extended... maybe... or ... it was only meant to go 12 days and end right after the festival. Some communication here from Anet as to how long that festival is going to last would be good and when to kiss the npc's bubyee!

I really like the idea that they should have randomly fallen out of wintersday presents that would have been cool. As it sits I haven't opened any of mine.

I'm okay with there being rare mini's but yet again they waited for it to be discovered and showed up nearly the last day of the event? hmm. Can't tell me no one farmed that quest for the duration of it. Not to mention those quests didn't show up til well after the decorations and collectors.

When I sit here and think about the fairness of it and how I thought it sucked because so extremely few have it. I sit there and think about how someone mentioned "what about Factions only players?" Can you believe that some people still only have Prophecies? Lots of people still do not have Eye of the North and couldn't even play the quest at all. This was planned, but why?

Why take ultra rare weapons and make them available to all including PvP only players? Why destroy the economy weapon wise/dye/ectos/but put mini pets on a pedestal? I don't get it?

Good luck to everyone that want a bear for buying one of the 2 - 10 polar bears currently in the game.

/fail.

Just because your not personally bothered about the whole bear issue, doesnt mean that other players arent kay?

Because QQing about it incessantly on forums will get something done? Don't get your hopes up.

This part I think I can answer - making rare weapons available, as in EotN means not having to design as many new weapon skins. They are re-using old designs and people get a thrill out of finding them until reality hits and they realize the skin they paid 100k + ectos for 3 months ago has dropped to less than 30k. It is a short term solution that involves less work.

Same goes for the minis - having taken weapons out of the "rare" category, they need some kind of item that will stimulate the same kind of interest. Minis fit the bill easily. They are easy to make. The basic model is already done all they need to do is change the size ratio. It is an easy way to make a rare object that will keep people excited for a short time.

In the end, however, the long term effects of taking short cuts like this may be quite high - ruined economy, etc.

well, when there are minipets with limited numbers, they usually put it on the wiki. Like with Vizu, or the Panda, they tell you exactely how many were handed out, when, and why. Since the rumour is already going around that it wasn't a random drop but an alotted amount being dropped at intervals, i don't see why they can't post how many there were. Besides, it's not like it's going to make them less valuable, i mean, if there's really as little of them as we think there are, then they'll still be priceless, no different from today.

For your information QQing on Forums DOES help! I QQ'd LOUD and PROUD about the customization of mini-pets being epic fail as did TONS of other ppl.

Result: Dedicated even sellable mini's GJ Anet!

I personally know of 3. Witchblade admittedly has one, Someone from LaZy guild came to my GH (friend of guildies) and showed it to me. And another guy not related to the other 2 I saw in Kamadan = 3 for me that I know about.

This is a question that does have a fairly easy answer: NCsoft does not charge monthly fees to play GW, they make their money off of selling the game itself....the special wintersday quests, much like the BMP are set up to reward players that have shown their loyalty to NCsoft and GW by buying all the stuff. May not be a popular answer, but is the most logical and probable one.

I think that the drop rate is something like 0.003% or something...

Doing 300 runs mean you have nearly 1% chance to get it xD

The mass duping being discover was because someone QQ that people had 1750+ armbraces

The mass banning from tranfering gold was addmitedly called a mistake because people QQ about it

Valor in the HoM was changed because people QQ about it

GW has no offical forum for people to give their complaints to, unlike other games, so as long as guru is the "elite fansite" it has to serve that purpose.
And personally I like saying what I dislike and finding other who agree with me. Many voices are better than jsut one.

Also Gaile might not know, but she can find out.

I'm generally cool about rare mini's (though I always disliked the rarity system for bday gifts). *BUT* I really think the super rare should be limited to contests/PvP/elite zones. Drooling over the possibility of getting a Vizu, is what made me spend an afternoon on the Wintersday art contest. I'm not at all bitter for losing, in that case.

Oh, and I disagree - I think that if the polar bear had been made widely available, enough people would have been pleased to consider it "everyone".

If I had one drop for me I would keep it. I don't really desire the obscene wealth that these are worth. There isn't really anything in the game that I would buy with money, but thats just me.

I would keep it cause its cool looking and the unique-ness factor.

If any polar bear owners want to pass theirs along to make it look like more were dropped than actually were: my hands are open. I'll of course pass it on again.

UH .. sorry, think you missed the point of rare weapon skins.

Crystallines
Dwarven axe
Serpent axe

Hall of Heroes only items now reduced to common. Not to mention the other used to be rare skins dropping from ha and zaishen chests now.

Point is Anet actually went out of their way to make these items worth less by making them easy to obtain. Those items were in the game in a reasonable number before Anet decided to make them worthless. People had a reasonable chance at obtaining one.

Now enter the minis .. a miniscule number put in the game with no chance of getting one outside a few stacks of armbraces.

This is what I would LOVE to hear Anet respond to.

She might not know, but she could have someone pull it up.

Though it was a nice gestured, it was horribly implemented. Besides, if no one ever said anything how would they know?

And, yeah, I would have like one (didn't do the quest once), but I'm not going to be in an uproar about it. If they decided to add more as a final hoorah, but in limited numbers and I got one, I wouldn't sell it. If they decided to add them by the thousands I still wouldn't sell it. I don't want it for the money. I think it looks adorable and maybe it'll offer me a coke one day.

No...Anet went out of thier way to make these available to those of us who have not been playing for over 2 years, not to make them worthless. Stuff that you say is easily attainable does not appear so easy to people new to the game who do not have piles of ectos and weapons they got before the big farming nerfs. People new to the game do not have a reasonable chance at that stuff at all without some of the new means.

I see people talking talking a lot about "the economy" through all this..... I have to say at this time that "the economy" is my least favorite part of the whole game, and really is the root of people's anger on this thread. "The economy" as I see it right now are a bunch of people that have all the stuff and have nothing better to do but to make a game out of trading it, bragging about how low they can buy stuff and how high they can sell it for, and then a bunch of new people that are frustrated by the fact that they can sweep and clear whole areas and barely have 1 or 2 plat to show for it, let alone have any "valuable" stuff that other players want. The "haves" own the "have nots" in the open market, because it is so hard to get anything of real value early in the game, that the people sellin their stuff in Kamadan are holding all the cards when you go to negotiate a trade with them. Long story short, most of the gripe in this thread is stemmed from either the idea that people desperate to get something really nice missed out again, and on the other hand people who have all the other stuff are pissed because a new shiny toy that everybody else wants but they dont have actually diminishes the "value" of thier stuff.

The game isn't ruining the economy, the economy is ruining the game.
